How much GIN costs: the real numbers

$1,650 at the door, $150 a month, more per level as you climb — stated plainly by someone who has paid all of it for fifteen years.

Here are the numbers nobody puts on one page. I'm a fifteen-year member and an affiliate, and I'd rather you read this before joining than after — walking in with the real figures is the difference between a decision and a surprise.

Joining

$1,650 up front. That's a $1,500 initiation plus your first month's $150 dues. It's what I paid at the end of 2010, at full price, and it's the standard door charge today.

Staying

$150 per month in membership dues, for as long as you stay. You can cancel anytime — this isn't a contract you're locked into, it's a subscription you keep choosing. Fifteen years of choosing it is my own answer to whether the monthly feels worth it from inside.

Advancing

The levels — 1 through 8 today, with a published intention to reach 12 — cost additional money to advance through, and the amounts are communicated to members as they progress. I'm not going to quote figures the publisher doesn't publish publicly, but I'll say the true thing plainly: members who take the ladder seriously invest thousands per level, and serious long-term members invest a great deal over the years. I'm one of them. Treat the join fee as the beginning of the road, not the price of the destination.

What the money buys

The training levels, the live events and cruises, and the community — which I've come to believe is the real product. You can price trainings. Pricing "the people I've built fifteen years of friendships with, who hold themselves to standards that pull mine up" is harder, and that's the part I've never once regretted paying for.
